Lavender Field Day @ Windy Hill

Updated: Jul 13, 2024

A couple of months ago I met Kate Miller from the Windy Hill Lavender Farm in Atglen, PA.

We had a great conversation about lavender and shared our passion for flowers and everthing lavender represented in our daily lives. Kate makes beautiful flower arrangements and is very gifted. According to her it is the best job on earth!

I have a love affair with Lavender and use it in almost all my products

During this visit, I showed Kate my honey herbal lotion bars that I make with Lavender & Rosemary essential oils and organic dried herbs. Since she was interested to see more of my products, I got invited as one of the vendors on her farm.

My true passion is educating people about aromatherapy. I had the chance to do this on Lavender Field Day, June 19th 2024. We had a fantastic turnout: there were more than 100 people signed up to come and visit the farm. The interaction I had with the local community was fantastic! The Amish girls you see on one of these pics came down and drove 2hours to visit this farm. My friend Rana came to visit the lavender farm and enjoyed very much the food they presented, the beautiful and relaxing setting and the atmosphere. I am so grateful to have been partaking in a wonderful experience with exceptional people.

They grow and harvest several varietes of the Hybrid lavender or Lavandin (Lavandula x intermedia), including 'Phenomenal', 'Grosso' and 'Provence'. They have a super potent, strong scent, high oil content and production, long stem quality, great big blooms.

I have been following Laura from Garden Answer for years now and found one of her video's about the types of lavender. In this video, she is presenting the 'Phenomenal' and 'Grosso' varieties.

Check out

Types of lavender
  • English lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)

  • Lavandin lavender (Hybrid lavender)

  • Spanish lavender (Lavandula stoechas)

  • French lavender (Lavandula dentata)

When you visit the Windy Hill lavender farm, don't forget to stop by the boutique. I assure you to have a great time there and last but not least, have a conversation with Kate. She is very kind and will no doubt share her passion about lavender and flowers with you!

Check it out! You will love it there!

It even gets better: if you are interested in a Lavender Farm Retreat, this is the ideal place to unwind and relax.
