Instructions for use of bath salt / body scrub / hand cream

Updated: Mar 15

As an aromatherapist, I am very familiar with the way I use aromatic products in general and especially my own. But do my clients know how to use them? I hope these instructions are helpful to fully benefit from them.

Have you ever taken an aromatic bath with bathing salts based on your individual needs?

Feeling tired, worried, or anxious? Do your muscles ache? Does your body tell you to slow down?

It's time to bathe...

The Romans believed that bathing along with eating, massages, and exercise, contributed to good health. You don't need to spend lots of money, you can do it at home in all serenity and calm.

It’s been a long time since I have taken an aromatic bath… until it seemed to be the perfect method of application for one of my clients. After a consultation combined with an aromatic experience, I created the perfect synergy for the individual needs of this particular client.

So, with a little leftover, I decided to spend a little ME-TIME and try out my product. It was an amazing experience, I felt incredibly peaceful and zen. My skin and my soul thanked me for so much love and care. I normally love to take bubble baths, but this one did just fine without because of all the amazing aromas added and the silkiness of the water caressing my skin.

Ingredients:

  • Coarse Himalayan pink salt that I grinded into powder to dissolve more easily

  • Coconut oil

  • Organic Lavender herbs that I grinded into powder

  • Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens), and Frankincense (Boswellia carteri) essential oils

  • Rose glycerite (homemade – see blog article on my website)

  • Rose geranium hydrosol

Himalayan salt is packed with essential minerals like sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium. These minerals play a crucial role in maintaining proper electrolyte balance in our bodies.

Himalayan salt baths can produce stress relieving hormones, ease muscle cramps and joint pains, relieve & reduce pain and inflammation, remove dead skin cells, heal cracks and scars, relieve blisters and bites, balance pH levels, energize the body and hydrate the skin.

Benefits of using bath salts:

Muscle tension: Bath salts can help ease muscle pain, arthritis, and headaches. A warm salt bath can relax muscles and relieve pressure, which can help you sleep more deeply and wake up feeling refreshed.

Skin health: Bath salts can exfoliate skin, remove dead skin cells, and soften dry skin. They can also help with skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne. It turns out that bathing in a bath filled with natural bath salts can improve the skin barrier function. This allows the skin to stay hydrated for longer. We often think that swimming in the sea dries our skin – but this barrier improvement, when combined with a good body moisturizer, is one of the benefits of bathing salts.

Improved Sleep: A warm bath with bath salts before bedtime can help you relax and prepare your body for a restful night's sleep.

Enhanced Mood: Taking a bath can elevate your mood and provide relief from symptoms of anxiety and depression. The soothing scents of essential oils can also have mood-boosting effects.

Detoxification: Bath salts may assist in drawing toxins and impurities from the body through the skin. The warm water and natural minerals in the salts can open pores and support the detoxification process.

Improved Circulation: The warm water of a bath and the minerals in bath salts can improve blood circulation, potentially benefiting individuals with poor circulation or cold extremities.

Respiratory Health: Some bath salts contain eucalyptus or menthol, which can help clear nasal passages and relieve congestion, making them useful for individuals with colds, allergies, or sinus issues.

Bath salt

Preparing for a bath is as important as relaxing in it...

ME-TIME is necessary to recharge the batteries.

  • Try this total relaxation experience by making the room as dark as possible;

  • Put some candles or some lights on the edge of the bath (I use the ones from Ikea - an apple and a pear);

  • Add 1 to 2 cups of Epsom salt into your bath and stir to dissolve;

  • Add the 1/4 of your bath salt from glass container;

  • Soak into bath for at least 20 minutes to reap the benefits, enjoy and relax, breathe deeply;

  • Take a shower if desired especially when you have dry skin.

  • After taking a salt bath, it is a good choice to drink plenty of water to help rehydrate and rid your body of toxins.

  • How many times a week? I would say between one to three times.

Shelf life: Bathing salts will be good for approximately 6-12 months. I recommend trying to use it within 3 months to receive its vitality.

Body scrub

How to Use a Body Scrub?

  • Wet the skin in the shower (or in foot/hand bath if using scrub for the feet or hands)

  • Apply scrub to desired area (e.g. the legs) and gently massage the scrub onto the skin. Avoid pressing down too hard, just a light pressure as you massage the scrub onto area selected.

  • Continue to apply scrub to various areas of the body (e.g. the arms, back, shoulders, neck, and bottom)

  • Rinse scrub off with warm water.

  • After leaving the shower and while skin is still slightly damp: apply a body oil or lotion to nourish, protect, and support hydration of the newly exfoliated skin.

How often can I use this scrub?

Body exfoliation can be done up to 3-5 times a week, depending on your skin type and sensitivity. For hand and feet exfoliation, this can be done as often as needed or desired.

Are there contraindications to exfoliating?

  • Do not exfoliate on open wounds, thin or broken skin, or when a chronic inflammatory skin condition is present.

  • Avoid exfoliants on sunburned skin or immediately after waxing or shaving. Wait 24 to 48 hours after shaving or waxing to use body scrub.

  • Avoid exfoliants on varicose veins and moles, as use of exfoliants in these circumstances may increase irritation or complicate the condition.

Shelf life:

A body scrub has a shelf-life of approximately 6-12 months or more. I recommend using it within 3 months to receive its vitality.

Hand cream

Using a hand cream on a regular basis is a good choice to prevent pigmentation and wrinkles at a much earlier age.

Hand creams are made rich in emollients, ingredients that soften and smooth the skin by filling the spaces between our skin cells. I love working with beeswax, shea or cocoa butter & coconut oil. These ingredients also repair the damaged skin barrier and restore natural oils back in the skin.

Generally it takes 5 to 10 minutes for moisturizers to fully absorb into the skin.

The best time to apply this cream is after having used the body scrub or after a shower/salt bath.

  • It is a good choice to start with clean hands before applying the hand cream.

  • Only use a small amount, about the size of a pea.

  • Apply to the back of your hands.

  • This cream can also be used on elbows, knees, feet, arms, legs.

  • Avoid applying hand cream to sensitive areas like your eyes, inside your mouth/nose, and the vaginal/groin area.

I would love to hear from you!
